Cancer festival
A continuous celebration of life
(includes partial artistic nudity)
This project was done a long while ago, in 2011. It is the seed of my art. It took a while to grow to who I am now. But all the elements were there already.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer and went through the full medical protocol: surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The cancer was a wake up call to stop living an unhappy life. It has taught me how to make life a celebration. And how to life happily. So I'm grateful for this lesson.
In the short break between chemotherapy and radiotherapy, I organized a celebration.
I had 3 photographs, a musician, and a group of friends. Plus tons of accessories. It was an amazing photoshoot. Also showing my breasts, with the scars.
Showing up and telling the world: Life is beautiful! I am beautiful! My scars and my bald head are beautiful! Life is amazing! Let's make it a wonderful artwork out of it!
